The Oscar goes Green
There was a lot of Green mentioned at the Oscars last night. Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” set the tone for the evening, with stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Melissa Etheridge taking a stand on environmental issues. There was even a commercial for Organic food! Al Gore claimed the Oscar went Green, but I have to say the confetti finale made me wonder…

Organic food sales blossoming, industry says
NUREMBERG, Germany - Organic food is going mainstream in the U.S. and Europe, with sales rising by $5-to-$6 billion annually, and it should be a boon to producers in Third World countries, industry experts said on Friday.

Organic seal may soon mean ‘clone-free,’ too

When the government approves food from cloned animals, expected in the next year, the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t plan special labels. Government scientists have found no difference between clones and conventional cows, pigs or goats.
However, shoppers won’t be completely in the dark. To help them sort through meat and dairy products, one signal is the round, green USDA organic seal, says Caren Wilcox, who heads the Organic Trade Association.Read More.
